Plans for 2025
Here is an overhead view of the different areas of the property here at Brookshire. For 2025 my main goal is to simply spend more time in the garden, but there are certainly a number of projects that I will be working on as well with an emphasis of curbside appeal and increasing safety in the backyard.

Despite being in my 30's. Keeping grass appropriately cut, watered, weeded, aerated, and fertilized is still a very new concept for me. Doing some maintenance on the lawn mower and sharpening the blades is probably a good start.
#1 Vegetable Garden

My black thumb has turned to a dark shade of green with about a decade of trying to grow plants. This year I have a wide variety of seeds and a bit more knowledge about my zone and when to get started. Maybe I'll even get to eat a variety of things this year.
#2 Year Round Interest Garden

My Dad has always wanted fountain grass. I've got plans to make this forward facing part of the lawn a little more interesting.
#3 Perrenial Garden

When the Romeo Cherry Bush died, the Juliet Cherry Bush only faked her death. This has been a playground of sorts to a variety of plants, spring bulbs, allium, and a bit of stray catnip. I'm hoping to get asparagus and strawberry thriving amongst this wild patch.
#4 Tea Garden
#4 Tea Garden
The Rose of Sharon, a tree-shaped Hibiscus, is the centerpiece for this yummy edible petals spot. I'm hoping I can get some other tea flowers blooming here and let visitors to the creek get a whiff of how great tea can smell even before it is hot leaf juice.
#5 Hollyhock Bed
#5 Hollyhock Bed
An experiment for the tall growing Hollyhock plant. A staple in country gardens and a means to hide the chain link fencing- which my sister has still not convinced me is worthy of covering up except by charming Hollyhock.

Deck
This is becoming rather dangerous. I actually broke a board and nearly fell through just today. My husband and I will for sure be dismantling most if not all of this risky situation.

Dog Run
This speaks for itself. This is an accident waiting to happen. This structure has got to be at least 30 years old if not older and has a fully split beam support beams not even sitting on anything. As soon as we can we are replacing or dismantling the dog run.
